Tinker in SlickerSummer Tinker Time Topics

Drop in between 10am-12pm for each event.

June 10
Physics of Flight! Butterflies, birds, and bats all fly, do you know how? Preschoolers will learn about the principles of flight by doing activities that really soar!

June 14 & 17
Klondike Kids. Preschoolers will catch gold fever, learn the science and technique of gold panning and take home their own little "nuggets."

June 21 & 24
Pet vs. Predator: Do you have a cute kitty? Playful puppy? Pretty parakeet? Preschoolers will learn about their wild Alaskan counterparts in nature.

No Tinker Time July 1.

June 28 & July 8
Dinosaur Detectives: Preschoolers will solve a mystery by looking at evidence dinosaurs may have left behind.

July 12 & 15
How Do We Know Our Climate Is Changing? Preschoolers will make Earth art, study their own ice core, watch a volcano erupt and count tree rings.

July 19 & 22nd
Water, Water Everywhere: Water is unique and all around us. Preschoolers will find out interesting facts and perform experiments with the slippery substance we use everyday.

July 26 & 29
Culture Shock: Preschoolers will compare themselves to kids from the past by examining a "site" and creating a simple time capsule.

August 2 & 5
Myths, Legends and Folklore. Preschoolers will explore the fact and fantasy of mythical creatures from popular legends. They will learn about the real animals that inspired these tales. Compare a narwhal to a unicorn; delve into sea monsters and more in this mythical exploration.

August 9 & 12
Who Goes There? Have you ever wondered what animal left those tracks or droppings in your backyard? Preschoolers will find out how to identify animals by their prints and scat.
